The 2022 NFL season is rapidly approaching its thrilling conclusion, with 8 teams that were in the hunt to become Super Bowl LVII champions – now only 4. Winning the Super Bowl is the pinnacle of football. Players write their names in the sport’s history books and are cherished by fans forever, while having a Super Bowl victory on their record means the franchise’s valuation soars as additional sponsorship opportunities arise and a new era of supporters flock to the club.
American football is big business. To see that, you only have to look at the valuation of the eight teams still in contention for Super Bowl glory this season. Those eight franchises have combined values of a staggering $37.675 billion! Now you try and tell an NFL owner that football is only a game!
Dallas Cowboys – $8 billion
The Dallas Cowboys are not only the most valuable NFL franchise thanks to their $8 billion valuation, but they are the most valuable sports team in the world. It is incredible to think that Jerry Jones bought the Dallas Cowboys for only $150 million back in 1989; that is some return on investment. The Cowboys have reached the Super Bowl eight times in their history, winning five and losing three. The best site for sports betting has the Cowboys as the sixth-favorites to lift the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy on February 12, 2023.
Cowboys fans last saw their team win the Super Bowl in 1995, and it marked the end of a hugely successful era. Since that fifth victory, the Cowboys have yet to progress deeper than the Divisional Playoffs, the stage where they are right now.

Only the Green Bay Packers can match such a winning percentage out of all the teams that have played in at least three Super Bowls.
New York Giants last won the Super Bowl in 2011 and have reached the playoffs only twice since, including this season. Due to their indifferent form during the second half of the regular season, the Giants are the seventh favorites to win this year’s Super Bowl.
San Francisco 49ers – $5.2 billion
The San Francisco 49ers are one of the most famous teams in the NFL and one with a $5.2 billion valuation, enough for third place in the NFL standings and 12th place globally. The 49ers are one of only four teams to have won at least five Super Bowls, the others being the aforementioned Dallas Cowboys, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New England Patriots.
Most of the 49ers’ success came in the 1980s, but they reached the 2019 Super Bowl, which they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, and reached the NFC Championship game last season, losing to the eventual champions Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers are the form team going into the business end of the season, having won 11 consecutive fixtures. Bookmakers price the 49ers as the third favorite to win the Super Bowl and the top side in the NFC.
Philadelphia Eagles – $4.9 billion
Philadelphia Eagles are worth $4.9 billion, making them the world’s 16th most valuable team and the NFL’s fourth. The Eagles have reached the Super Bowl three times, winning once in 2017. The team won 14 regular season games for the first time in the franchise’s history thanks partly to emerging victoriously from all eight of their opening fixtures.
A solid defense and a top-tier offense make the Eagles fourth-favorites to win Super Bowl LVII.
Rounding out the rest of the four teams gunning for Super Bowl glory are the Kansas City Chiefs ($3.7 billion), Jacksonville Jaguars ($3.475 billion), Buffalo Bills ($3.4 billion), and the Cincinnati Bengals ($3 billion).
