Key Takeaways

Your Grubhub earnings come from a mix: base pay for the delivery itself, bonuses for those extra efforts, and tips from happy customers in your local market.
The Grubhub Recognition Program rewards drivers with three levels: Partner, Pro, and Premier. Each level has its own perks based on how well you meet goals like acceptance and attendance rates.
Whether you prefer the steadiness of a weekly direct deposit or the immediacy of Instant Cash Out, Grubhub will fit your financial flow.

How Much Do Grubhub Drivers Make?

ZipRecruiter says that Grubhub drivers might earn between $19 an hour before you factor in your expenses.

Grubhub drivers’ pay will vary depending on four things:

Delivery Driver Pay – Your base pay covers stuff like how far you’re driving, what kind of delivery it is, how long it takes you to deliver, and what the market where you’re working.
Grubhub Contribution – Sometimes, Grubhub will throw in a little extra to make sure drivers are getting a fair deal for your time, especially during slower periods.
Tips – Customers can show their appreciation for your speedy and friendly service with a tip; 100% of those tips go straight to you, the driver.
Missions & Special Offers – Think of these as little bonuses or challenges. Maybe it’s extra cash for hitting a number of deliveries or working at super busy times.
Taxes – You’re considered self-employed, so you’ll need to keep track of your earnings and expenses. You may potentially pay quarterly estimated taxes.
Tax Deductions – You could deduct car expenses, phone bills, and more.

Make sure you open a bank account if you haven’t already to get direct deposit set up so your pay comes in fast and easy.

Being A Grubhub Driver

Driver Requirements

The Grubhub driver requirements are pretty simple. You must be 18 or over 21 if you’re in Las Vegas.

A valid driver’s license is key if you’re driving a car- if you’re 18, you need at least one year with your license.

Bike delivery? Just a state ID will do.

You must have a smartphone for the food delivery app, and a background check to check driver history is part of the deal.

Applying is simple. Visit Grubhub, enter your info, upload any documents, and wait for approval!

Car Requirements

Almost any car will do for Grubhub deliveries. The make, model, or year of your vehicle is not strictly regulated as long as it’s reliable for delivering orders.

However, Grubhub requires all drivers to maintain up-to-date auto insurance and follow the laws of the state where they deliver.

Scheduling

Grubhub operates on scheduled blocks, known as delivery blocks. By scheduling delivery blocks ahead of time, you’re essentially reserving your spot to deliver during those hours.

Grubhub might just select you for its Grubhub Recognition Program, which can lead to new blocks and even more orders.

You’ll need:

A good attendance rate
A low block drop rate
To deliver orders with a smile
To make sure everything’s hot and fresh

Tips To Earn More Money Delivering Food

Peak Hours

To earn more as a Grubhub driver, adding peak hours to your scheduled block is essential.

Peak hours are typically during lunch (12 PM to 2 PM) and dinner rushes (5 PM to 9 PM), when the demand for food delivery is highest.

Also, consider those late-night cravings- that’s when some orders start flooding in, offering you a golden opportunity to cash in on hungry revelers.

While Mondays and Tuesdays might feel a bit like slow-motion for delivery partners, the weekends are usually busy, especially Friday and Saturday nights.

Know The Local Hubs

Knowing the local hotspots is another winning strategy to make more money delivering food.

Positioning yourself close to busy restaurants or popular food joints can mean fast order assignments and more deliveries coming your way.

Think about setting up shop near university campuses, where hungry students frequently rely on food delivery services.

It’s a prime spot to snag orders and cash in on the demand for drivers in those bustling areas and can seriously increase earnings.

Better Map Apps

More efficient routes mean you can squeeze in more orders and earn some extra money. Plus, you’ll reduce your mileage and estimated time for delivery, which is a win.

With these apps, delivery partners can handle multiple stops like a pro and cut down on time spent delivering food.

You can choose from a variety of handy apps, such as Route4Me, Circuit Route Planner, MyWay Route Planner, Upper Route Planner, and RoadWarrior.

Drive With More Than One App!

Multi-apping allows you to level up your game as a delivery driver. You’ll juggle orders from different food delivery platforms at the same time.

Start by adding one additional app at a time, getting the hang of managing multiple orders and platforms without breaking a sweat.

Other Food Delivery Jobs

Grubhub delivery partners aren’t limited to just their app- you can sign up with others to get more orders.

Here are some of my favorite food delivery apps in addition to Grubhub:

DoorDash

Being a DoorDash Dasher is pretty sweet. You’ll earn cash per delivery and score sweet tips from happy customers.

But the best part? You’re the boss of your schedule and can fit your hours in or around your Grubhub schedule.

Postmates

Postmates works the same as Grubhub- use the app to set up your schedule, accept order requests, and deliver the goods.

But you can also get paid for delivering groceries and other household items, extending your pickup potential even further and generating extra orders!

Read my Postmates vs. DoorDash Review to see what their driver requirements are and why DoorDash might be the winner.

Uber Eats

Uber Eats is another hot spot for delivering food, and drivers are raking in some serious dough.

And just like with other delivery platforms, Uber Eats drivers get to call the shots. You can log in to the app and start delivering whenever you like; there are no rigid schedules to tie you down.

Here’s my Uber Eats Review to check out more info on signing up.

Instacart

Instacart is the go-to platform for grocery delivery that’s making shopping a breeze for folks all around.

Oh, and there are two ways to roll with Instacart:

Full-service shoppers who work as independent contractors, doing the shopping and delivering groceries.
In-store shoppers are part-time employees who focus solely on filling up those carts and checking out the groceries before they’re delivered.

Check out my Instacart Shopper Review to see if this is the right side hustle for you.

FAQs

How does Grubhub calculate pay for drivers?

Grubhub’s method of determining driver pay is pretty straightforward:

Delivery driver pay + Grubhub contribution + Tips + Missions & special offers = Total Pay

Now, when it comes to getting paid, Grubhub has got you covered with a couple of options.

You can choose weekly direct deposit or use the Instant Cash Out feature can pay you daily (with a small fee).

Could I make $1000 per week driving with Grubhub?

Making $1,000 a week with Grubhub may be possible, but it depends on your local market.

As an independent contractor, you have the flexibility to make a plan about when you’re out there delivering because you will basically need to work 10 to 13 hours a day.

If you’re in a bustling city with tons of hungry folks ordering around the clock, reaching that goal might be a breeze.

But if you’re in a quieter suburb, you might need to get a bit creative with your schedule to snag those prime delivery times.

Does Grubhub pay more than DoorDash?

Pay really can vary based on factors like your location, the time you choose to work, and even the specific orders you accept.

According to ZipRecruiter, driver earnings on Grubhub average between $19 per hour, while Indeed has DoorDash sitting at an average of about $17 per hour.

How does working with Grubhub differ from working with Postmates?

When you’re deciding between Grubhub and Postmates (which is now part of Uber Eats), consider what you’re going for with your delivery gigs.

Grubhub is all about food deliveries from various restaurants. So, if you’re into picking up pizzas, sushi, and maybe the occasional smoothie, Grubhub could be your jam.

Postmates is pretty much a jack-of-all-trades delivery service. In addition to delivering dinner, you could drop off groceries, a bottle of wine, or even some office supplies.

Final Thoughts

So, to sum up, if you sign up with Grubhub today, you could potentially earn $19 an hour with this side hustle.

Your Grubhub driver pay will vary based on things like where you’re delivering, how many runs you’re making, and those ever-welcome tips.

And hey, the flexibility to choose when you work as a Grubhub driver and working peak hours can really increase your pay.

But here’s a little insider tip: don’t put all your eggs in one basket as a Grubhub driver. Check out other food delivery gigs, such as DoorDash and Postmates.

Mixing it up could make your delivery hustle even more profitable, and ultimately, we all want to earn more cash!

Pick Your Niche

One of the key moves you’ll make is zeroing in on the right niche.

By aligning your business with a niche that you’re passionate about or have extensive experience in, you can tailor your services to meet the needs of bookkeeping clients in that sphere.

What gets you fired up? Have you got a history in retail, construction, or maybe the nonprofit world?

Are you all about the hustle and bustle of startups or the tried-and-true realm of established small businesses?

Digging into these questions can help spotlight a bookkeeping niche that not only benefits from your know-how but also keeps you engaged.

Start with a few clients in your chosen niche. This will give you a good sense of whether this niche is truly your cup of tea or if another would be better for your business.

Price Your Services

Before setting your prices, compare what other bookkeeping businesses charge for similar accounting and bookkeeping services.

This doesn’t mean you should just copy-paste their pricing structure, but it does give you a ballpark idea of what clients might expect.

Here are some things to think about:

Remember, your prices can be higher or lower depending on your expertise, the specific niche you serve, and the complexity of your services.
Think about offering a variety of pricing models to meet your clients’ different needs. Offering choices can make your services appealing to a broader range of clients.
You can start with a project-based rate for one-off tasks or an hourly rate for ongoing, variable support. This means you’ll take projects as they come if your project load isn’t full.
Others might like the monthly retainer model, in which they pay a set amount each month for a bundle of services.
Transparency is key when it comes to pricing. Be clear and upfront about your rates and what those rates include.
Your bookkeeping business will grow, and so should your pricing. As you gain more experience and expand your services, you can adjust your rates at a reasonable rate.

Create Your Business Plan

Think of your business plan as your roadmap; it’s going to guide you from where you are now to where you dream of being.

Whether you’re pitching to investors, applying for a loan, or just setting clear goals for yourself, a solid business plan is your best friend.

Here’s how to start:

Dive Into the Details – Your business plan should dive into how you are going to run your business- your niche market, your services, and how you plan to market those services.
Pick A Business Structure – Are you going solo and creating a sole proprietorship, LLC, etc.?
Market Analysis Is Key – Who needs your bookkeeping skills? What does the competition look like? A thorough market analysis lets you know the landscape for a new business.
Financial Projections – Let’s talk numbers- a language you should know. You need a solid financial background to create projections for income, expenses, and when you expect to break even.
Plan for the Future – Where do you want your new business to be in a year? Five years? Set some long-term goals and outline the steps you think you’ll need to take to get there.

Pick A Business Name

Your business name should be a mirror to the bookkeeping services you offer. It should give small business owners and other possible clients a clear hint of what you’re all about.

Your name will be your banner as your business grows.

Whether your name is straightforward and descriptive or a bit more abstract and creative, the key is relevance. Your name sets the stage for expectations and building a reputation.

You also want something that’s easy to recall and pronounce and stands out in the crowded marketplace for starting a bookkeeping business.

Choose a name that’s broad enough to encompass any future expansion of your services but specific enough to remain relevant to your core offerings.

Once you’ve found the perfect name, you will want to protect it. Trademarking your business name safeguards it from being used by others in your industry.

Register Your Business

Now that you’ve chosen a fantastic name, you should register your bookkeeping business.

Registering your business entity isn’t just about getting a certificate to hang on the wall. It’s about understanding and complying with legal and tax obligations.

You picked your business structure, right? Now’s the time to know so you can plan for taxes and more.

A sole proprietorship is the simplest form, but a limited liability company (LLC) may offer protection from personal liability. If you are sued, your home and life aren’t at risk.

Once you’ve decided on the structure that best suits your bookkeeping business, you should register for a business license with the appropriate state and possibly federal agencies.

This business infrastructure is one step to starting other pieces- from opening a business bank account to managing business finances and tax reporting, you’ll be ready to set things up.

Get Email Address Set Up

Setting up a professional email address using your business name is a simple yet impactful step in getting your bookkeeping business ready for success.

Use Your Business Name: Start with your business name for instant recognition and professionalism.
If your business is called “Savvy Mamas Bookkeeping,” an email address like info@savvymamasbookkeeping.com instantly tells people who they’re dealing with.
Keep It Simple: Your email address should be easy to remember and type. Avoid complicated spellings or unnecessary numbers.
If your business name is long, consider abbreviating it in a way that’s still recognizable. This is a good time to see if your acronym is NSFW or taken already!
Choose a Reliable Provider: Opt for a reputable email hosting service that offers features beneficial for small businesses, such as calendar integration and enhanced security.

Open A Bank Account/Payment Services

Opening a business bank account keeps your business finances separate from your personal finances, knowing your cash flow and business spending separately form your heart and home.

It not only helps you manage business expenses and income effectively, but it also keeps the picture of your personal and business finances crystal clear.

Choosing the right bank means finding one that aligns with your business needs and offers services that support small business owners like you.

When you go to open your account for your business operations, you’ll need to have your business documentation ready, including any registration papers and possibly an EIN if your setup requires it.

Savvy Tip: Check out the online banking features, low transaction fees, and specialized support for businesses.

Apply For Funding

Kicking off your bookkeeping company means being upfront about the estimated startup costs.

Thankfully, bookkeeping businesses are very inexpensive if you plan on freelancing and doing everything remotely.

However, if you want a brick-and-mortar shop with other bookkeepers and staff, you’re going to need to figure out financing ahead of time.

To cover these costs, you might find yourself considering the best ways to apply for funding. Some options are:

Small Business Loans: Many banks and financial institutions have loan packages designed to meet the needs of small businesses.
Grants: Depending on your location and the nature of your business, you might qualify for grants. These are particularly appealing because, unlike loans, grants do not need to be repaid.
Personal Savings: Many people use their savings to start their own business; any amount could cover some estimated startup costs.
Business Credit Card: For ongoing expenses or smaller purchases, a business credit card can be a convenient option. Plus, business credit can help with costs beyond starting up.

Get Bookkeeping Software & Business Programs

Choosing the right accounting software is all about finding a tool that manages your bookkeeping clients and fits well with your business’s workflow and budget.

A tailored small business accounting software should not only streamline your day-to-day tasks but also boost your overall productivity and accuracy.

Also, small business accounting software should not only meet your current needs but also anticipate your future needs and be capable of scaling as your client list expands.

QuickBooks Online stands out as a go-to accounting software for many in the industry, praised for its adaptability to a range of business sizes and needs.

How to Invest as a Teenager for Financial Success (2024)

Understanding how to invest money as a teenager can actually be a huge boost for a teen’s future finances.

Now, you’re probably wondering, “How does investing as a teen even work?” It’s all about these cool things called a custodial brokerage account.

They’re like a beginner’s toolkit for young investors, giving a teen a way to start investing early without diving in headfirst.

So, if you’re ready to level up your teen’s money game, stick around. I’ll break down the basics of investing as a teen, and we’ll kickstart their path to financial freedom.

Upromise

Upromise makes saving for college easy! Families have saved over $1 Billion for college using Upromise.

Save For College Now

Key Takeaways

Investing for teens is all about getting savvy with your money.
If you’re a teen, play around with pretend brokerage account portfolios to get the hang of things.
Then chat with your family (they’re not as boring as they seem), and get things launched for real!
Teen investors need to get to know different investment types like stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, and bonds.
Even teens should think long-term and consider college savings and retirement accounts.
Building your teen investment strategy is like making your own game plan. Check your risk tolerance, spread out your investments, and do some research.

How To Invest As A Teenager

Have you ever considered investing young but felt like it was just for the Wall Street crowd? Well, guess what?

Investing is possible for teens, too, and getting into it now can be like unlocking a secret level in a game where the prize is your future financial future.

These are great tips that I used to start investing for myself in college and also to start some investments for my kids!

Learn About Investing

Investing might seem a bit scary at first, but trust me, it’s not as scary as it sounds.

I totally get it- I’m learning all I can now to start investing for my girls. They are still young children, but time goes by quickly, and they will be teens before I know it.

Here are some places where I started looking for information about investments and how the stock market works for my girls. They helped me, and I think they will help you, too!

TeenVestor – TeenVestor can help you learn the ins and outs of investing. They offer the basics of financial assets to more advanced topics, all tailored for the younger crowd.
Wealthfit’s Investing 101 for Teens & Investopedia – Wealthfit offers your go-to online libraries for everything investing., and packs a punch with video modules aimed at teens.
Investodepia – Investopedia is like the Wikipedia of finance and investing. It’s blog-style with hundreds of articles about investing options and investment platforms.
TD Bank WOW! Zone – TD Bank WOW! Zone has put together lesson plans that make learning about finance fun and relevant and help adults who want to teach teens about investing.

Try Mock Portfolios/Investing Tools

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could give investing a test run first? Well, you can!

Mock portfolios or virtual trading platforms are awesome tools to get a feel for the market without risking real money or setting up a custodial account.

As a teen investor, it’s like having a practice field where you can sharpen your skills before starting your investing journey for real.

Here are 3 sites to get started:

The Stock Market Game & How the Market Works – The simulators on The Stock Market Game & How the Market Works are like playing a video game in which you navigate stocks.
Wall Street Survivor – Wall Street Survivor breaks down investment concepts into easy-to-digest lessons and lets you trade stocks virtually.
Young Investors Society – The Young Investors Society offers paper trading challenges like the Dollar-a-Day challenge, where new investors can learn the magic of saving and investing.

Research Common Investment Scams!

As a teen investor, keeping your hard-earned money safe when you make investments is a big deal.

See, there are all sorts of sneaky scams out there, from dodgy penny stocks to schemes promising crazy high returns when you invest in stocks.

Some sites can help you learn more about scams:

Investor.gov – Investor.gov is a site run by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It has a checklist of red flags that infer investment fraud.
FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) – FINRA provides detailed guidance on various fraudulent schemes and practical tips to protect yourself.

Save Up Funds

Saving up funds is the first step towards investing, and as a teenager, you might wonder where to start. The answer is actually pretty simple!

You can begin by setting aside money from your allowances, part-time job earnings, or cash gifts you receive. Every little bit adds up, so remember the power of those small contributions.

Think about opening a high yield savings account like the ones at Chime to stash away your funds. Not only will it keep your money safe, but you’ll also earn some interest along the way.

Plus, the more you save, the more you’ll have to invest when you’re ready.

A bank account should not cost you money. Chime has your back with no monthly fees so you can build credit and more.

Talk About Signing Up W/ Your Family

Getting your family on board with your investment goals is more than smart; it’s necessary, especially if you’re not 18 when you begin investing.

For starters, you’ll need their OK to open an account and get the ball rolling with an official investment platform.

But it’s more than just ticking a legal box. Having a parent or guardian involved means:

You can get investment advice, especially if they are advanced investors – someone to help decode the complex world of investing.
You can work together and tag team finances. Bringing more minds to the table can lead to better financial decisions and strategies.
You can celebrate the wins together and enjoy the sense of achievement as a family. You can also learn from the losses together and use setbacks as valuable learning opportunities.

Check Out Custodial Accounts

Ready to start investing but not quite the big 1-8 yet? Cue custodial accounts!

Your parent or guardian can help you open a custodial account, and from there, you’ll have access to a whole new world of investing opportunities.

A parent or guardian manages these special brokerage accounts until you hit legal age/become an adult.

Custodial accounts operate under the Uniform Gifts to Minors Act (UGMA) or Uniform Transfers to Minors Act (UTMA).

They give you the green light to hold a wide range of assets and may be exempt from some taxes by the Internal Revenue Service.

Curious where to find these custodial accounts? An investing account can typically be set up through most major financial institutions or online brokerage firms, like M1 Finance or Acorns Early.

Decide On Investment Options

Now that you’ve saved up some money and done your homework, it’s time to decide where to put your hard-earned cash to work.

There are many investing options available, each with its own set of risks and rewards.

You’ve got:

Stocks
Bonds
Mutual funds
Real estate

But here’s the thing: the right choice depends on your financial goals and how much risk you’re comfortable taking. And that takes some learning and thinking!

Investment Options (In-Depth)

Stock Market & ETFs

The stock market is one place where investors can grab a slice of ownership in various companies.

When you invest in individual stocks, you’re essentially becoming a part-owner, riding the waves of profits and losses alongside the company’s journey.

Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) bundle assets like stocks, bonds, or commodities into one neat package.

You have more flexibility with your investment because an ETF can be bought and sold throughout the trading day.

Both stocks and ETFs shine because of their power of diversification. With stocks, you can spread your investments across different companies and sectors, reducing your risk.

ETFs are similar to mutual funds in that they can have a range of investments altogether (below), but unlike mutual funds because they trade on stock exchanges.

Mutual Funds & Index Funds

A mutual fund is like a collective investment pot where people pool their money to invest in a variety of assets.

Mutual funds spread risk and diversify your investment portfolio without picking individual stocks or bonds.

An index fund also pools investors together but sticks to stocks and bonds. It’s a hands-off approach that focuses on keeping pace with overall market trends.

They track the performance of a specific market index, such as the S&P 500. Instead of trying to beat the market, they try to match its movements.

The real perk of both a mutual fund and an index fund is that experienced professionals typically manage them for you.

Bonds

Bonds are tools for borrowing, used by both governments and companies to gather capital. Investing in a bond means you’re giving a loan to the issuer of the bond.

These debt securities pay interest to the bondholder throughout the bond’s term and return the principal amount at the end.

Bonds offer a steady stream of income, making them attractive to many investors seeking reliable returns from low-risk investments.

Additionally, they play a crucial role in diversifying investment portfolios, helping to mitigate risk.

College

Investing in a college savings plan is like giving yourself a head start on your educational journey.

These plans, like the 529 Plan with UPromise, help you stash away cash for college and offer some pretty sweet tax benefits.

By investing in a college savings plan now, you’re setting yourself up for success in the future.

Not only will you be able to save money on future education costs, but you’ll also be lightening the load when it comes to taking out those dreaded student loans.

Upromise

Retirement

I know – retirement feels lightyears away when you’re still in your teens, but trust me, starting to save now can make a world of difference down the road.

A Custodial Individual Retirement account, like a Roth IRA with Empower, can help you build a cozy nest egg for the future.

Not only do they offer some sweet tax advantages over other investments, but they’re also a smart way to get ahead financially.

Plus, with lower-risk investments like savings accounts or a custodial IRA, you can sleep easy knowing your money’s working hard for you.

The Investor’s Toolkit: Tips For Investing

Assessing Risk Tolerance

Risk tolerance sounds scary, right? But it’s really just a way of expressing how comfortable you are with the ups and downs of investing.

Why does it matter? Well, it’s all about how you handle risks that affect the types of investments you go for and how you react when the market gets a little wild.

Investments may lose money over time, or they may not- different investment options have more or less risk, and you have to decide how much money you’re willing to lose if you don’t get the payout.

Assessing risk tolerance comes down to the estimated low vs your estimated gains. For example:

Conservative portfolio: annual returns at 8% with only a 14% chance of loss
Risky (aggressive) portfolio: potentially 10% returns, but has the potential to lose 44% of your money.

Diversification: Not Putting All Your Eggs in One Basket

Diversification is spreading out your investments across different types of assets. Think of it as having a bunch of different baskets for your eggs instead of cramming them all into one.

By spreading your investments across different asset classes- like stocks, bonds, and even savings accounts- you’re not putting all your eggs in one basket.

That means if one investment doesn’t perform as you hoped, it won’t tank your entire portfolio.

How to Research Stocks

It’s like being a detective, but instead of solving crimes, you’re looking for clues about which companies might be worth investing in.

Dig into a company’s financials. Check out income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Despite sounding boring, these numbers provide valuable insights into the company’s performance.
Stay updated on company news. Keep an eye out for product launches, mergers, or leadership changes. Such updates can offer valuable clues about the company’s prospects.

Evaluating Index Funds and ETFs

When it comes to evaluating index funds and ETFs, there are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind to make sure you’re picking winners:

Assets: Check what’s inside. Look at the stocks, bonds, or other assets the fund invests in.
Fees: Watch those costs. High fees can take your returns over time.
Historical Performance: Look back! Past performance can give you an idea of how the fund has done and if you would benefit overall.

Insights on Bonds and Interest Payments

Bonds offer a steady source of income through a fixed interest rate. Whether you’re a seasoned investor or just starting, it’s important to know how bonds work and how they earn interest.

Learning about interest rates is key because they can significantly impact your returns.

For young investors looking for a reliable income stream for their portfolio, bonds are a great way to earn money steadily.

Using Investing Apps and Virtual Trading

Investing apps and virtual trading platforms let you practice your investing skills without risking a penny of your hard-earned cash.

These apps and platforms mimic the real stock market, giving you a chance to test out different investment strategies and see how they play out in real-time.

Whether you’re a rookie investor looking to dip your toes into the market or a seasoned pro exploring new tactics, these tools offer a risk-free environment to experiment and refine your approach.

FAQs

Why is investing a good way to make money?

Investing can potentially amplify your money more lucratively in comparison to mere saving- you use your money to grow more money.

When you invest money, it can potentially bring in higher returns, and the power of compound interest means your investments can grow significantly over time.

It’s also a way to achieve financial success, build wealth, and meet long-term financial goals.

Is investing important for a teenager?

Absolutely! Investing as a teenager has several benefits:

Grow money with compound interest
Learn vital money management and personal finance skills
Investing early sets them up for future financial success

Can teenagers sign up for investment platforms?

Typically, investment platforms require users to be 18 or older to open a brokerage account. But, teenagers can kickstart their investment journey with parental or guardian assistance.

Parents or guardians can start a custodial brokerage account for their teenager, where they oversee and manage the investments until the teenager reaches legal adulthood.

How do beginners start investing?

Beginners can start investing by:

Learning about investing
Saving up funds
Opening an investment account
Choosing an investment strategy
Practicing investing through mock portfolios or virtual investing platforms without risking real money
Commencing with small investments and progressively reviewing them as you acquire more knowledge and experience

Final Thoughts

Investing as a teenager can be an exciting and rewarding journey.

It not only helps you build financial literacy skills but also sets you up for financial independence in the future.

You can help make informed investment decisions for your custodial account by understanding different investment options, knowing your tolerance for risk, and diversifying your portfolio.

Remember, start early, invest wisely, and always keep learning when investing for teens.

It’s also a great choice for moms because it requires very little training and can be done from the comfort of your own home.

Typically, a client will provide you with a set of data in a spreadsheet or other document that needs to be entered into a new spreadsheet or database.

This type of work is helpful when you’re in the beginning stages of your freelancing career because it’s fairly straightforward and easy to complete quickly.

Creative Side Hustles For Moms

11. Flipper

Being able to flip items for profit is a great side hustle for moms because it’s flexible and you can make your own hours.

You’ll need to scour thrift stores for items that could be valuable, but a keen eye can find great items to profit on.

As with any hustle, start small and plan your strategy. Think about a few items that you could buy for a low price and then sell for a higher cost in order to get the ball rolling.

When shopping for items to flip, keep the items’ resale value in mind as well as what marketplaces you can sell them on.

We recommend checking out Flea Market Flipper for more help on becoming successful flea market flippers.

12. Online Store Owner

Selling your handcrafted items or home goods is a great side hustle to make some side money around the holidays.

Online sales are great side hustles for moms who like being creative in their free time- you can easily make money off of your hobbies!

Etsy

If you’re looking for a platform to sell your handmade goods and crafts, we recommend Etsy for selling online. It’s a great place to list your items for sale, is easy to set up, and has a lot of traffic.

When setting up your online store, make sure you have a catchy name and appealing cover photo so that people can find you in the search bar! You’ll also need to create a professional-looking profile with some information about the type of items you’re selling.

People love handmade gifts for Christmas and Mother’s Day so this could be a great way to make some extra money around the holidays.

Shopify

If you have a home business, you may want to set up an online store using an e-commerce website. One of the most popular options for this is Shopify.

When setting up your account, it’s easy to choose from a variety of themes and add to your inventory so that people can purchase what they’re looking for!

Facebook Marketplace

Another marketplace to sell your products is on Facebook. Just create a business page and post the item that you have for sale for free! It’s an easy way to sell items from anywhere, including living room sales or garage sales.

In order to limit the amount of spam on your post, make sure your profile is locked down and only friends and family can message you. This way, you can focus on selling items and less on messaging back and forth with friends and family who may not actually want to buy anything from you.

13. Photographer

Photography is another popular on our long list of side hustles for moms because it is a high-paying side hustle- you can make $100 – $500 per hour depending on the type of session you book!

People love professional photos, especially around the holidays, so you could make a photography business and offer your services on sites like Fiverr or Upwork.

If you already own a nice camera, all you’ll need is some natural light and your background in photography to get started. You can start by looking for side jobs in your area that need a photographer or put together some stock photos to sell.

You could also make money with a drone and take aerial photos, wedding videos, and more!

14. Author

Do you like to write or keep a journal?

There are several different ways to publish your work, but we recommend self-publishing with Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing.

When sharing your work on Kindle, you’ll need to add in some information like formatting preferences and categories. You’ll also need to upload your submitted work as either a .doc file or PDF. After that, buyers can purchase your books right on Kindle!

If you don’t like the idea of sharing your work with everyone, you could always write under a pen name and keep your privacy.

15. Graphic Designer

Artworks can be great side hustles for moms because there is a lot of variety and the earning potential is endless! Companies are always looking for designers to make posters, advertisements, invitations, business cards, or even logos.

If you already own graphics software like Photoshop or Illustrator, this can be an easy way to make money by offering your skills as a designer!

You can offer to design one-of-a-kind pieces for people or you can create a ready-made design pack that people can purchase as is.

You may also need to know how to format your designs for specific programs like PowerPoint or Microsoft Word, so keep that in mind when pricing your services!

16. Voice Actor

You may know the Marge Simpson-like voice of Nancy Cartwright, but did you know that she makes $8 million every year in royalties just for voicing Bart in The Simpsons?

Voice actors can do studio work for films, commercials, or cartoons. They earn money reading whatever when their voices are used in these productions and then receive royalties when they are played on TV or at the movies!

If you’d like to turn your vocal talents into a side hustle, check out sites like Voice123 and Voices.com where you can look for jobs that need voice actors. This may be another highest-paying side hustle once you get your gigs lined up!

17. YouTube Streamer (YouTube Channel)

Now that YouTube is more widely used, thousands of people are using their accounts to make money! You can start your own channel where you talk about products, play video games, or offer how-to guides for DIY projects.

Once you get a solid following, you can partner with brands and companies who will pay you to advertise their products on your account!

The best part about becoming a YouTube streamer is that anyone can do it! All you really need to start is a video recording device (like your phone) and an internet connection.

Once you have your streaming account set up, simply look for companies that are interested in advertising on independent channels like yours. You’ll then be able to start building up your following and start getting paid for your work!

Exercise or Yoga Guru

Working out is often a way to relieve stress, so many people are interested in getting fit. So many side hustles can come from helping others be healthier.

You can sell or stream workout plans that you create or offer exercise equipment to your audience.

You’ll need an established channel on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc. to show people what you’re selling and get their attention.

Genius Chef

If you’re a good cook and you want to make money on the side, the best way to do it is to start your own YouTube channel. Share your recipes and cooking tips for everything from breakfast to dinner.

If you make some unique dishes, mention them in your video and add links back on your blog post or social media page where people can purchase the ingredients.

Working Offline

18. House Sitter

If you live in a large, metropolitan area, there are several side hustle apps where you can connect with people who need a sitter for their houses while they’re out of town!

It can be the easiest side hustle you find- you mostly just hang out at other people’s houses and keep yourself entertained.

All you really have to do is go over to their house, check on their pets, mail, or plants, take their garbage to the curb, and make sure there isn’t a problem with anything.

19. Pet Sitter

Whether or not you have a ton of experience with animals, pet sitting is a great side hustle for moms!

Rover is a popular app where dog owners can find sitters who are available on short notice. If you’re a dog lover, you can sign up to be available for people who need help taking care of their furry friends!

You’ll be paid by the company after each day of work and it’s very easy to get hired. You simply have to create an account and complete a background check.

Once you’re approved, you’ll be able to start making money by looking after dogs!

20. Dog Walker

Side hustles where you spend time with animals are goals in my book! You can also find dog walking jobs on Rover and get your pupper fix.

Instead of looking after the pets in their home, dog walkers take Fido for a walk around town.

Many owners are willing to hire people who are available during the day so they can get a couple of walks in before or after work.

If you have another full-time job, you might be able to find a dog walking position that fits your own schedule.

All you’ll need to do is bring some water and poop bags along with your phone charger since most of the time you’re on foot.

21. Animal Groomer

If you like taking care of animals, but pet sitting or dog walking isn’t for you, there’s still a side hustle for moms to make money fast – grooming pets!

This takes moderate skills, but plenty of people are looking for people to come to their house and groom their pets.

It’s minimal training and investment, but I know some people who have paid a minimum of $100 to get their dog washed and dried- this side hustle idea could bring you a couple of hundred bucks a day!

22. Daycare Director

Are you a mom who wants a way to earn money, but don’t want to leave your baby for too long? Some single moms spend so much money on childcare when they’re trying to work a traditional 9-5 job.

Daycare directors are people who make sure children are taken care of. You can join a daycare already or even create one in your own home.

You can work at a daycare, and spend time with your baby all day! Plus being at daycare helps your own kids socialize, so it’s a win-win.

23. Teach Kids (In Person!)

If you’re a great teacher or have experience working with kids, consider teaching a group of students in your spare time.

We’ve talked about tutoring already, but if you enjoy more hands-on teaching, you can take up a tutoring side hustle that isn’t online.

People will hire you to teach classes that may focus on one subject area like math, science, computers, art, language skills, etc.

24. Seamstress or Tailor

If you have an eye for detail, are good with your hands, and are looking to make some money on the side, turn it into a side hustle!

You can find plenty of people who need help hemming pants or sewing quilts.

All you really need is a machine to get started. Some people even prefer teaching themselves using YouTube tutorials.

25. Quilter

If you’re an expert at sewing, consider charging for quilt creations to sell online or in person.

It’s surprisingly easy to find inspiration and patterns to create your own one-of-a-kind designs!

One of my aunts actually creates memorial quilts out of t-shirts, so I know for a fact this side hustle can make you money as well as be a very meaningful job.

26. Personal Stylist

Do you have an eye for what looks good?

If your friends always come to you when they need help picking out outfits, consider charging them!

You can make money by helping people pick out clothes that flatter their body type.

27. Hair Dresser or Stylist

I, for the life of me, can’t do my own hair. Straightening it or a basic braid is no problem, but the rest is impossible.

Being a hairdresser is a great side hustle to help a lot of people. It isn’t just trimming hair, but styling it to make people feel good about themselves!

Plus, hairstyles for weddings, proms, or other formal events are a way to make money on the side.

Hairstylists can give clients a new look, and new confidence with some hair dye and sharp scissors, and a good personality will keep them coming back for more.

You can even use the Honey browser to get cash-back on purchases from retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Target, eBay, and more!

You can search for specific items or browse by category.

Plus, the browser plugin automatically locates and applies coupons and cash-back offers when you shop through Rakuten. It can save you a lot of money on your purchases.

Upside is a free app where you can find cash back offers for gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and more.

Just select the offer you want, purchase the product, and upload your receipt to earn cash back that is then added to your account.

We especially love this app because it helps us save money on gas, which really helps since gas prices are soaring!

We use it to not only check for savings, but to see what gas stations are charging around us so that we can pick the best spots.

Frequently, we have a Fastrac by our house that we can fill up at and save $2 – $3 per trip. Every bit counts, folks!

You can find out more about the app with my Upside Review.

11. Acorns Earn

Now I know what you are thinking! Acorns?

Acorns Earn is a part of the Acorns investment app that lets you earn money when you shop or look for work.

When you make more money, you can save and invest more; therefore, Acorns Earn increases your profits.

So when I pick up Starbucks for me and the girls before school, it’ll round up our order from $19.87 to $20, and Acorns will automatically use that $0.13 in our investments.

They have partnered with retailers and brands to give you cash back when you shop using the Acorns Earn extension on your computer, or the Acorns Earn tab on the Acorns app on your smartphone.

Acorns will deposit the cash you earn from shopping into your investment account instead of sending you a check or depositing money to your PayPal.

12. Dosh

Dosh is a rebate app only available in the U.S. and is excellent for those who want to get cash back on their purchases without doing any extra work.

When you shop at one of their affiliated merchants using a linked credit or debit card, you can automatically earn cash. Dosh will pay you back up to 10% of your purchase.

All you have to do is sign up and then shop as usual. You don’t have to select any offers or scan receipts to earn money.

You must have $25 in your Dosh account to cash out your balance. This funding limit is higher than that of other apps. You can get your money via Venmo, PayPal, or direct deposit once you reach that threshold.

13. ReceiptHog

Receipt Hog is another excellent option. You can earn cash back on your purchases from a variety of retailers.

You can withdraw your cash-back from your account once Receipt Hog has paid the commission from the retailer.

14. Drop

The Drop app premise is simple: link up your credit or debit cards and earn rewards points for every dollar you spend money at one of Drop’s partner merchants.

Your points can be redeemed for gift cards, statement credits, or donations to charity.

One of the best things about Drop is that you can earn Drop points even when you’re not doing everyday spending or regular shopping.

The app pays out 5 points per $1 spent on dining out, for example, so you can rack up rewards just by eating at your favorite restaurants.

You can also earn points from playing games and taking surveys- if you want to know more, read my Drop App Review.

RetailMeNot is not as flexible with its payouts as the other cash back apps are.

The cash back you earn is not available for 45 days after the purchase. Once RetailMeNot approves the cash back, they can be redeemed with Venmo or PayPal.

16. Freebird

The Freebird app is a great way to save money on your nights out. You can get cash back on Uber and Lyft rides, as well as discounts at restaurants and bars.

If you use the Uber app to get rides to certain bars and restaurants, as well as to and from work or school, use Freebird- you’ll receive money back on your trip.

Simply connect the card you use on the app with the Freebird. Then using the Freebird app, reserve a ride and get money back as a bonus.

17. Coupons.com

Coupons.com is a free couponing website and app available in the Apple Store and Google Play Store.

It offers additional ways to save on groceries and everyday essentials by linking your store loyalty card and redeeming digital coupons.

Look for offers you want and select offer; purchase product in the offer. If the store you are shopping with has a loyalty card, apply the coupon when you check out.

If the store does not have a loyalty card, take a photo of the receipt when you get home and scan the bar code if asked.

Are you feeling the weight of credit card debt or lack of savings and searching for a smarter way to manage your finances?

Enter Bright Money, a revolutionary tool that’s been the subject of much buzz in the world of personal finance management.

With the question of “Is Bright Money legit?” on many people’s minds, I’m here to provide you with an honest look at how it stands out in helping users manage their money more effectively.

In this Bright Money Review, I’ll dive deep into how this platform can be the partner you need to make better financial decisions.

Key Takeaways

Bright Money leverages AI and its slick MoneyScience™ to tailor financial strategies for crushing credit card debt, boosting credit scores, and growing savings.
Bright says that, on average, users save a substantial $744 each year on interest charges alone.
Bright Money brings you the Bright Builder and Bright Plan features to tackle debt and encourage savings without breaking the bank.
Trustpilot reviewers give Bright Money a big thumbs up, proving it’s a legit player in the financial game.

Bright Money Review

Bright Money is an app that uses AI (Artificial Intelligence) to analyze your spending habits. It examines your bank account to determine how you’re spending your hard-earned cash.

The goal is to help you get out of debt, especially that pesky credit card debt that’s been hanging over your head.

It analyzes your payment history and credit card payments to devise a customized Bright plan to improve your credit report. There is no cookie-cutter advice here!

The cool part? It automatically moves funds from your checking account to make those credit card payments for you.

So, if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by debt and wish your credit scores were looking up, Bright Money might just be what you need.

Main Features

Bright Money is all about simplifying your finances. Its key features offer a complete solution for managing your money effectively:

Automated Financial Planning: Bright Money uses AI to analyze your income, expenses, spending habits, credit card balances, and interest rates to suggest debt payment amounts.
Customized Payment Methods: The app primarily recommends the debt avalanche method for paying off credit card debts), but you can also choose other methods to pay debt off.
Smart Pace Transfers: Bright Money has a feature called Smart Pace, which monitors your checking account and transfers money to a “Bright Stash” account for debt payments.
Personalized Savings Goals: Bright Money allows you to set your own savings goals, such as opening a savings account, and moves funds weekly to help you save more regularly.
User Control and Flexibility: Users can control their financial strategies, including adjusting monthly payment amounts toward debts and savings.
Security Measures: Bright Money prioritizes user security by utilizing Plaid; savings accounts with Bright Money are FDIC-insured up to $250,000.

Platform Cost

Bright Money offers flexible membership plans to suit your needs. It begins with a complimentary 10-day trial period, during which you can explore its features risk-free.

After the trial, you can choose from three affordable membership options for your Bright account:

Yearly Plan: $6.99 per month (billed annually)
6-Month Plan: $8.99 per month (billed every six months)
Monthly Plan: $14.99 per month (billed monthly)

Plus, if for any reason you’re not completely satisfied, Bright offers a money-back guarantee.

Bright Builder

One of Bright Money’s key features is Bright Builder. With Bright Builder, you get a secured line of credit that helps you improve your credit score.

With Bright Builder, you can start small with just a $50 security deposit. Yep, you heard that right- only $50 to get started and no pesky high-interest debt to worry about.

Once you’ve got your deposit in place, you’ll unlock access to a secured loan, starting at as little as $50.

Use that credit however you need- whether it’s for a little extra cash flow, to cover unexpected expenses, or to put in a savings account or an emergency fund.

Then, just make sure to pay back the minimum amount each month. Every time you make those payments, Bright Builder reports it to the credit bureaus.

That means you’re actively building up your payment history and credit score.

Bright Plan

The Bright Plan from Bright Money is like having a financial wizard by your side, helping you manage your money smarter.

It’s driven by AI and is designed to tackle your financial goals head-on, whether it’s paying off those nagging credit card balances or getting a grip on your debt.

What’s cool about the Bright Plan is that it looks at your checking account, considers your unique spending habits, and crafts a personalized roadmap for you.

It breaks down your financial goals step by step, from dealing with that pesky credit card debt to building up your savings.

And the best part? It can handle all your payments automatically, so you can set it and forget it.

With the Bright Plan on your side, you could wave goodbye to debt much faster than going it alone. It’s like having a supercharged credit card payoff strategy right in your pocket.

Bright Credit

Bright Credit is a financial lifeline offered by Bright Money. It operates as a revolving line of credit.

One key feature of Bright Credit is its ability to offer users a lower interest rate than traditional credit cards. Even better, there are no extra fees, like late fees.

Users can consolidate their credit card debt into one manageable monthly payment. Consolidating credit card bills makes it easier for users to stay on top of their finances and see credit score improvement.

This can give the user significant savings on interest charges over time, making it a valuable option for those looking to pay off their debt faster and more affordably.

Applying for Bright Credit is straightforward. Upon approval, users gain access to their approved credit limit, which they can use to refinance their existing credit card debt.

Your Bright Credit repayment time depends on two things: the credit limit you’re approved for and the smallest amount you have to pay each month.

Once you’re approved, just check the app for these details. You must make at least a minimum monthly payment.

However, if you want to pay off your loan quicker, you can make more than that minimum.

Trustpilot User Reviews

While Bright Money offers promising features, what do users actually think about the platform?

On Trustpilot, Bright Money has an average rating of 4.7 stars based on 4,953 reviews. Many users praise the platform for its top-notch service and verified status.

Mike gave 4 stars and said “Contacted for support via message with Antonio, excellent communication and responded fast and clear!

Although, for those looking for a fast builder, this has not been it. Keep in mind this game is for the long run to help build credit…”

Jasmine’s rating was 5 stars. She said, “Yesterday I reached out to chat due to accidentally paying for a year membership. I was immediately connected with Selena- she was amazing and helped me quickly.”

Bright Money Competitors

While Bright Money offers a comprehensive financial management solution, it’s always good to consider alternatives.

Let’s take a look at two of them:

Savology

Savology is a financial management app that is all about making financial planning easy and accessible for everyone.

It’s really for the regular Joe or Jane who wants to organize their finances but might feel overwhelmed by the complexity of traditional financial planning.

Whether you’re starting your first financial plan or looking for a second opinion on your current one, Savology has you covered.

With Savology, you can have a comprehensive financial plan and a clear path forward, all tailored to your specific needs and goals, in just a few minutes.

Tally

Tally focuses on credit card debt payoff. It uses a line of credit to pay off your high-interest credit cards first, allowing you to manage your debts more effectively.

Tally’s credit line, unlike traditional personal loans, doesn’t lock you into a set repayment period. Instead, it offers flexibility by allowing you to access funds repeatedly over time to manage your debt.

While Tally offers a more focused approach to credit card debt, it does not provide the wide range of financial management features that Bright Money does.

Tally’s services are more targeted towards debt management, whereas Bright Money offers a broader range of services, including credit score monitoring and personalized financial plans.

Yes, you can potentially get $100 instantly from some of these personal finance apps.

Many let you borrow or get paycheck advances without credit checks, but the availability of instant funds and the conditions under which they are provided vary from app to app.

Are apps a safe way to borrow money?

Using most cash advance apps to borrow money can be a safe and convenient option, provided you’re using reputable and secure services.

These apps have grown in popularity as alternatives to traditional lending and banking services.

They offer quick access to funds, budgeting tools, and even ways to avoid bank account overdraft fees.

Reputable apps use strong encryption and security protocols to protect your personal and financial information.

Final Thoughts

Cash advance apps like Dave can be a lifesaver when you’re waiting for your next pay period and need a little help to get by.

You can get paid early or get a cash advance without a credit check, but these apps go even further.

They don’t just give you a cash boost; they also have some pretty handy tools to help you keep track of your money better with a cash advance amount.

Just a heads up, though- while these apps are great for sorting out a tight spot with bank accounts here and there, they’re not the fix for ongoing money woes.

Cash advance apps are more like a quick band-aid for those times you’re in a pinch and need money fast.

So, use them wisely as a good way to avoid bad loans and huge interest rates.

23 Ways To Earn Free Gift Cards

1. Survey Junkie

One of our favorite survey sites is Survey Junkie because it is easy to use and it’s well-paid as online surveys go.

Not only that, but it’s really user-friendly – the site itself is well made and presented, and you are also able to complete surveys whenever is convenient for you.

In exchange for taking online surveys, you’ll get points for answering market research questions. When you have reached 1000 points, you’re able to redeem these for free gift cards (or cash).

Survey Junkie is how I get a free Amazon gift card every month with almost no effort!

2. Swagbucks: Free $10 Bonus

Swagbucks is an all-in-one money-making machine! Earn money and get free gift cards by completing surveys for market research, watching videos, and even shopping online.

You earn points called ‘Swagbucks’ or “SBs” and you earn them when you take surveys, play games, use the free app to watch videos, shop online, and more.

The amount of SBs that you earn for each task varies depending on what you are doing exactly, and how long it will take – so generally, longer surveys will earn you more SBs.

100 Swagbucks equates to $1.00, and then you simply earn more and cash out for free Target gift cards and more.

After taking online surveys, you can redeem your SBs for free gift card codes. This allows you to obtain free Walmart gift cards and others like xBox gift options.

There are lots of great gift cards that you can get on Swagbucks once you have enough points, such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, and even free Home Depot gift cards.

I don’t know about you, but the PayPal cash and Amazon gift cards would come in handy!

It’ll also tell you how many points you will need to earn to get them – lookout for sales too, as they reduce the amount of SBs you need occasionally.

You can also get an instant sign-up bonus if you join!

When you’re on the site, look out for the purple buttons, which say things like “Earn”, “Answer” and other similar phrases, as that is showing you where you can earn money on there.

There are also headers across the top of the site, which you can click on and it will take you to that specific part.

For example with the “Surveys” tab, you can click on that and it will take you to all of the available surveys to answer, with the time it will take to complete it listed on them as well.

You’ll just be asked some questions and get paid for doing so – this is usually an easy way for companies to do some market research.

If you have a bit of spare time every day, such as when you are winding down in the evening watching a bit of Netflix, you can complete surveys and earn points.

You will need to get to $30 in order to cash out, and there are loads of retailers’ gift cards that are available, such as Amazon, Adidas, or Walmart to name a few.

Our favorite is the Target gift cards since we can use them on groceries, movies, and house stuff.

7. Honey Extension

Over here on The Savvy Couple, we love the Honey Extension and have an in-depth review of Honey explaining exactly how to use it, but we can do a summary of it here for you!

The Honey Extension is a web browser extension that you download onto your laptop or computer.

It’ll help you find the best coupon codes when visiting online stores and putting stuff in your cart.

For example, say you are going to buy something on Sephora when you come to the checkout, there will usually be a box there asking if you have a discount code.

A lot of the time we just ignore this, because we are in a hurry, or have a little Google search for a coupon code that you can use.

The best thing about the Honey Extension is that it will do this automatically for you.

Once you’ve reached 10,000 points you can redeem your points, and here are your options for a free gift card:

Walmart
eBay
Amazon
Sephora
Target
Groupon
Nordstrom
Sears
1-800-Flowers
and more!

8. Credit Card Points

Using credit card points to buy free gift cards is smart, but you’ve got to be careful about spending money and not going crazy just for points on credit cards.

But some rewards can be worth it if you’re smart with your credit cards.

An example is the Discover It credit card which is a card that will give you cashback on things that you are already buying such as groceries, gas, etc.

When you earn points on your card, you’re able to change it into a gift card.

Another example is the Amazon Prime Store Card which offers a $10 Amazon gift card when you open up a new account with them – but make sure that you read the T&C’s before signing up.

Our Favorite Credit Cards:

Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
Chase Sapphire Reserve

9. Amazon Trade-In

Amazon is a great way to buy things, but also make money and earn gift cards.

The Amazon Trade-In program is a program where you can trade-in your old things, and get Amazon gift cards in exchange.

If we’re all honest with ourselves, most of us have stuff lying around the house that we can get rid of.

I think of myself as pretty good at decluttering and love selling my old bits, but somehow I always find more and more stuff to get rid of!

With this program, you can trade in the following:

Cell phones
Kindle readers
Video games
Textbooks
Tablets
Bluetooth speakers and Echo
Streaming media players (e.g. Apple TV, Roku Streaming Stick, etc.)

After you submit the item that you want to trade in and it’s accepted, the gift card should be added to your balance within 2 business days – really handy if you need to buy something last minute!

Start trading in your items to Amazon for FREE gift cards today!

10. American Consumer Opinion

American Consumer Opinion is a company that pays you to answer online surveys that are available for you to enter on the website.

You earn points per online survey, they will be between 100 to 5000 points, with each 1 point being equivalent to 1 penny.

When you redeem your points, they will be offered as cash, but you are able to win a free gift card with their lucky draw opportunities.

Bonus: You can use the Honey Extension to get free rewards when you use this site!

11. Shopping Online

Ibotta is a really useful app to have, that will get you cash back on your purchases. I don’t know about you, but I love getting free money back on things that I am going to be buying anyway!

Groceries are a huge expense for most families, so being able to get cash back on the food and drink that you buy can be a blessing, especially if you are going through a rough financial patch.

When you are about to do your grocery shopping, you can open up the Ibotta app and select the items that you are planning on buying.

Once you have done your shopping, upload your receipt so that it can be seen that you bought those items, and you’ll get points for those.

Once your account reaches $20, you are able to cash out and can redeem it in the form of free gift cards online.

When you sign up using our exclusive link you’ll earn your first $10 for FREE, which will help you on your way to the cashout!

12. Branded Surveys

Branded Surveys is a great option to earn gift cards fast. It’s easy to take online surveys and get paid via PayPal cash, gift cards, and bank account transfers.

Once you sign up and answer surveys, you can cash out your rewards as a gift card once you hit $10 in your account.

You can get your gift cards typically within 1-2 days of requesting a payout, and then you’ll be ready to use your free gift card in no time!

You can also turn your Visa gift card into cash!

13. Earn Rewards With Opinion Outpost

Opinion Outpost is another online survey site where you can earn points and get free gift cards for every survey that you complete.

Surveys are such a great way of earning gift cards, because there are always little pockets of the day that we can do them in, and it doesn’t require much effort at all.

Learning to get gift cards free with a tiny bit of effort is a great feeling, especially when you use a gift card for things that you really want.

You are able to exchange your points for cash, or gift cards such as Amazon or iTunes gift cards. It’s epic!

14. Fetch Rewards

Fetch Rewards is an app that turns your grocery shopping receipts into points, which you can then use to get free gift cards fast.

You just download the app and scan in your grocery receipts. Once you’ve scanned in $3 worth of receipts, you start earning points towards freebies.

You can also earn points by referring your friends.

You can then redeem your points for a  free gift card at a large number of different stores, including:

Amazon
iTunes
Starbucks
Walmart
And more!

15. i-Say Surveys

Okay, okay, I know that it’s another paid survey site, but we have to mention all of the best places that can get you your free gift cards, and this is another one to add to the list!

There are lots of surveys up for grabs on this site, but like all survey sites, it will go off your demographic.

Some surveys will be targeting a particular demographic, so it is just the luck of the draw when it comes to that.

Once you have completed some surveys or polls that are on the website, and have got to at least 1380 points, you’re eligible to redeem these points into electronic gift certificates and high street vouchers.

The great thing about redeeming on i-Say is that the gift cards will be delivered to you straight away – and with brands such as Starbucks, Amazon, etc.

16. MobileXpression

MobileXpression is another passive income app where you receive free gift cards as rewards.

Rather than taking online surveys, you just use your phone and get your freebies.

We like this app to get free Amazon gift cards, plus you can enter sweepstakes to get even more.

They’ll sometimes send short surveys about your internet usage, but it isn’t like a survey app where you answer questions every day.

17. Lifepoints

Lifepoints is another survey site that asks you about exercise, food, hobbies, and more to get free gift cards fast.

LifePoints offers small surveys that usually pay 1 – 2 points that take a few minutes. Then they have surveys that take at least 30 minutes and pay 100 – 150 points.

You can also test products and enter weekly giveaways in order to get freebies.

18. FREE Gift Cards for Birthdays & Holidays

A really simple way to get free gift cards is to simply ask for them!

Now, I don’t mean to go around asking random people on the street for free gift cards, but to ask for gift cards from friends and family who will be buying you something anyway.

For example, at Christmas and on your birthday, your loved ones will probably ask you what you would like them to get you, and you can let them know that you would like a gift card.

A lot of the time, people struggle with knowing what to buy people. I personally love a practical gift, rather than something that will just end up at the back of my closet.

Chances are, you’re probably saving up for something right now, which is why having a gift card to go towards that will be really beneficial to you.

I always ask for gift cards when I’m asked what I would like as a gift, and I am usually specific as well and will explain the reasons behind it.

19. Test Drive Cars To Get Free Gift Cards

Many car dealerships will offer you free gift cards for swinging by and taking one of their latest inventory out for a spin.

Be sure you are prepared to walk into a dealership, they will try and sell to you. Car dealerships make their money by getting foot traffic into the dealership and selling HARD.

Make sure you have your guard up and realize you are only there for the free gift cards and coffee. Don’t get caught up in a salesman sitting you down and tempting you to upgrade your car.

20. Do Microtasks

If you have some free time and want to get free gift cards, you can complete microtasks through Amazon Mechanical Turk.

These tasks are usually very quick and fairly simple to complete at your leisure. Some examples are entering data, doing research, creating documents, and more.

They get posted pretty regularly so there’s always something available for you to work on. Then when you finish your tasks, you can get paid through gift cards.

21. Donate Blood

Now many of you have probably donated blood, but when there are extra shortages, blood drives will often advertise free gift cards as an incentive.

Not only that, but you can sometimes enter sweepstakes and giveaways. We recently saw that the Red Cross is giving people a $5 gift card plus a chance to win a trip to Memphis.

You can find places to donate blood near you with the Red Cross, but you can also contact your local churches, colleges, and more to see if they’re having a blood drive close to home.

22. Mistplay

Mistplay is a gaming app where you can get free gift cards for playing games online.

You can earn points towards gift cards from retailers like xBox, Google Play, Amazon, and more.

This is an Android-only app, however, but you can earn from a large variety of games.

The variety is how millions of users have stuck with it all these years!

23. Bubble Cash

Bubble Cash is an easy game where you can earn points and snag free gift cards!

The game is simple- pop bubbles and compete if free or paid tournaments.

You collect gems as you go and rack up more points- and more points could mean you’re the winner!

The cash tournaments aren’t available in every state, so be sure to check if you’re eligible to play.
